Training has always been a necessity when if comes to all first responders, but I have seen over the past few years how it has been set aside in lieu of equipment. One would tend to subscribe to the idea that the need to train on a regular basis would prove essential for those who voluntarily place their own life in harm’s way for a living. I would suggest to all that our schools and children are at mortal risk based on conversations I‘ve had recently with the foremost experts in active shooter incidents and school safety in the United States. First and foremost, there is no other event that galvanizes, horrifies, and scars a community like a mass casualty event involving children or students. (read full article)


Crisis Management:
The Critical Component to any Response and Recovery Plan

As a relatively new field of study, crisis management has become the critical, main component in the planning, reactive, and recovery phases of any all-hazard response involving natural and man-made disasters. Proactive planning and preparation of any incident response begins with the forecasting of potential courses of action with reference to a particular location. Should the security management plan fail to deter a man-made attack, the crisis management strategy must play as a primary response to ensure the damages are minimized in the aftermath of the initial onslaught.
